Join us for a conversation with John Moye, Urban League Senior Director for Policy, Legislative Affairs and Civic Engagement on the State of Black Georgia. We discuss the 2024 legislative priorities for the urban league and their 2022 Publication, "The State of Black Georgia", which provides policy recommendations in the critical areas of education, justice reform, civic engagement, health care and economics.

John Moye

John H. Moye serves as Director of the Office for Policy & Legislative Affairs at the Urban League of Greater Atlanta. Moye relocated to the Atlanta Metropolitan area from New York City in the summer of 2014. He spent over 20 years in public service beginning his career working for former New York Governor Mario M. Cuomo. He made a career change and entered the nonprofit sector.

Moye was appointed as Director of the Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs (OPLA) in 2019. In OPLA, he leads the team’s efforts to advance the Urban League’s legislative and policy agenda through collaboration with city agencies, the Atlanta City Council, Georgia State Legislature and other key stakeholders. Moye initially joined the ULGA in September 2016 in the Office of the Workforce Development, Education and Training, where he worked to ensure the League’s workforce priorities and programs were effectively implemented.

Prior to joining ULGA, Mr. Moye served as the Commissioner’s principal representative for the New York State Department of Labor in New York City. The New York State Department of Labor provides unemployment and employment resources for New York State residents, as well as business and labor information and services. In this capacity, Mr. Moye worked with the region's congressional delegation; state and local labor, elected and appointed officials and stakeholder organizations promoting the policies and initiatives of DOL.
