SD7 Commissioner Candidate
LaDena Bolton is a homegrown leader that was raised in DeKalb, is married to a DeKalb Educator and has a strong record of service supporting DeKalb families. Her community advocacy over the past 10 years makes LaDena the best fit candidate to serve as our next Super District 7 Commissioner.
LaDena garnered the attention of DeKalb stakeholders and elected officials in 2020, when PPE supplies were scarce. She partnered with members of the Asian American Resource Center to deliver 10,000 disposable gloves and 350 face masks to school nutrition staff, coordinators and bus drivers that were delivering meals to DeKalb scholars and their families.
Through Bolton Legacy Inc, a 501c3 nonprofit organization co-founded by Dr. Bolton and her husband, Dr. Clement J. Bolton II, they distributed over $320,000 in resources to underserved DeKalb students, reaching nearly 16,000 families since 2019. Service has been the key to success in Dr. Bolton’s personal and professional life. As a career Chemist, LaDena has experience in both government and corporate America as a Program Manager. She managed millions of dollars in resources and streamlined processes to improve service outcomes.
LaDena believes that we are responsible for the health of our communities and are empowered to protect them. Consequently, Dr. Bolton has served as the Vice President of the DeKalb Young Democrats Benefit Corporation, and more recently, as the Chair of House District 85 in the DeKalb County Democratic Committee. She is known for coordinating the organization’s 1st in-person absentee ballot drive, which helped make ages 18-35 the fastest growing voter population in 2020. In our fight for fair elections, LaDena served as a DeKalb County Poll Manager and recruited over 50 fair election champions as Poll Workers.
A product of DeKalb County Schools, Dr. Bolton graduated from Avondale High School and received her undergraduate degree from Savannah State University. She earned her Doctorate of Philosophy, in chemistry, from Clark Atlanta University. An active member of the community, Dr. Bolton is a member of National Council of Negro Women, NAACP DeKalb, Leadership DeKalb (c/o 2024), Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc and Peachcrest Trace Homeowners Association.
