State Representative

Referred to as “chief community officer,” Doreen Carter is known for her unwavering support of the East Metro area and identifying opportunities to improve the lives of residents and businesses in the district. She is an effective leader who advocates for vibrant communities and has a strong interest in education, public safety, and economic development. Carter served as chair of the East Metro DeKalb CID formation committee, which is the first Community Improvement District in South DeKalb. She is a Leadership DeKalb alumna, Atlanta Regional Commission alumna of the Regional Leadership Institute, past president of the Greater Lithonia Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on the Brownfield Revolving Loan Fund Committee.

Carter has served in the Georgia General Assembly for the past 8 years and four years as a city council member.

Host annual Go Red for Women event to bring awareness and resources to women about Heart Disease
participates in economic and financial education events for youth and entrepreneurs
Host agricultural events for farmers
Participating with GLBC to ensure that minorities have opportunities to access government contracts
Education Advocate and works with the State PTA to train volunteers to advocate at the Capitol .

Carter is a Mother, Widow, Author, Financial Educator, Nonprofit Financial Executive, State Representative, and Lifelong Georgian.
