From Lab Coats to Leadership: Dr. LaDena Bolton's Run for Commissioner

We sit down with D. LaDena Bolton, Candidate for DeKalb's Super District 7. She's a chemist, wife, mother, and community servant. Through Bolton Legacy Inc, a 501c3 nonprofit organization co-founded by Dr. Bolton and her husband, Dr. Clement J. Bolton II, they distributed over $320,000 in resources to underserved DeKalb students, reaching nearly 16,000 families since 2019. Dr Bolton is a graduated of Avondale High School,Savannah State University and earned her PHD-in chemistry from Clark Atlanta University. She is also is a member of National Council of Negro Women, NAACP DeKalb, Leadership DeKalb (c/o 2024), Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc and Peachcrest Trace Homeowners Association. Her race is going to a runoff on Dec 3rd in DeKalb County. Early voting is Nov 25-27, 2024. So, may plans to go out and vote if you are in Dekalb County District 7. LaDena Bolton is a homegrown leader that was raised in DeKalb, is married to a DeKalb Educator and has a strong record of service supporting DeKalb families. Her community advocacy over the past 10 years makes LaDena the best fit candidate to serve as our next Super District 7 Commissioner.

LaDena garnered the attention of DeKalb stakeholders and elected officials in 2020, when PPE supplies were scarce. She partnered with members of the Asian American Resource Center to deliver 10,000 disposable gloves and 350 face masks to school nutrition staff, coordinators and bus drivers that were delivering meals to DeKalb scholars and their families.

Through Bolton Legacy Inc, a 501c3 nonprofit organization co-founded by Dr. Bolton and her husband, Dr. Clement J. Bolton II, they distributed over $320,000 in resources to underserved DeKalb students, reaching nearly 16,000 families since 2019. Service has been the key to success in Dr. Bolton’s personal and professional life. As a career Chemist, LaDena has experience in both government and corporate America as a Program Manager. She managed millions of dollars in resources and streamlined processes to improve service outcomes.

LaDena believes that we are responsible for the health of our communities and are empowered to protect them.
